January 13th: REUNA invites to the closing event of the 2nd Workshop on e-Science in Chile

  • The meeting, which aims to define and establish a strategy to lead the country to sustainable implementation of a collaborative National Grid Infrastructure, will involve the feature of renowned nationals and foreigners panelists.

    e-Ciencia"II Joint Workshop for The Linking Science and Business: e-Science and Industry: Towards a National Grid Infrastructure" is the name of e-Science project that the Chilean NREN, REUNA, is developing along with the Center for Mathematical Modeling at the Chile University, the Center of Excellence for Modeling and Scientific Computing, University of La Frontera, Concepcion University, North Catholic University and the Center for Advanced Studies of Arid Zones, CEAZA, University of La Serena, with the Program financing Bicentennial Science and Technology of the National Commission for Scientific and Technological Research (CONICYT).

    On 13 January, will take place the closing event of this initiative which aims to create an interdisciplinary forum for public-private partnership to define and establish a strategy to lead the country to sustainable implementation of a collaborative national Grid Infrastructure, to accelerate the adoption of Grid technologies to facilitate and enhance the national scientific research, innovation processes, business development and value-added transfer and impact of the benefits of these facilities to the public and private areas.

    The workshop, will involve the feature of renowned nationals and foreigners panelists, among are: Eugenio Sper de Almeida, Weather Prediction Center and Climate Studies, INPE (Brazil); Catherine Gater, Coordinator of the GridTalk-II Project co-funded by the European Commission, Led by CERN, (Switzerland); Santiago Ristol, project coordinator BEinGRID-Business Experiments in GRID, funded by the European Commission (Spain); and Francesco de Mattia, Artistic Director of ASTRA Project (Italy).
